UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE ON TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT (UNCTAD)

As the initiator of the Trade Point Programme, UNCTAD is a key partner of the World Trade Point Federation. In April 2004 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between UNCTAD and the WTPF to formalize their mutually beneficial relationship, based on the shared objective of increasing the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in international trade, in particular those located in developing and least developed countries by:

  • Authorizing the appearance of UNCTAD publications on the Federation's website for use by Trade Points and their customers;
  • Participating in the delivery of training courses to Trade Points, subject to the availability of resources;
  • Facilitating the participation of Trade Points in expert group meetings where appropriate;

Providing support for the publication of the WTPF annual report "Trade Point Review". UNCTAD further undertakes activities for the strengthening of our member Trade Points through for example the development of tools, manuals, services and their implementation, and support for projects and capacity building tasks.
